What's New?
MaxGiving Software Update May 26 – June 2, 2026
Sell an Auction Item Directly From a Guest's Statement
Admins can now record a winning bid for a guest straight from that guest's statement preview. A new Add Auction Item button opens a popup that auto-targets the bidder, takes a catalog number, looks the item up and shows it (or surfaces a clear sold / not-found message), takes the winning amount, and posts the bid. The statement refreshes right away so the new item shows up.
Answer Ticket Questions From Guest Notes
The Guest Notes popup has a new Add/Edit Ticket Q&As button that lets admins answer a guest's structured ticket questions properly — without going through the free-text notes box, which used to mangle the saved answers. It shows the full set of ticket questions across the event, so any answer can be recorded regardless of the guest's own ticket level, and it's available even for sponsor, comp, volunteer, and uploaded guests.
Answer Registration Questions From Guest Notes
A companion Add/Edit Registration Q&As button opens the event's registration questions for a guest from the same Guest Notes popup. Answers are merged in cleanly so re-answering one question doesn't wipe the others, and the popup closes instantly with a confirmation toast.
Item Sales Tab Available for Simple Auctions
Simple Auction events can now turn on the Item Sales tab via the event's settings, matching what other product types already support.
MaxGiving Software Update April 14 – April 21, 2026
Auction Lifecycle Controls All on One Page
Everything related to closing an auction - Start, Close, per-section Close, Last Chance Auction, and Force Close - now lives on the Auction Settings page instead of being scattered across multiple pages. Two new buttons fill in gaps that previously required waiting for a scheduled job: admins can now force-close a single Auction Type section immediately (marks items sold at their current bid, stops bidding on that section only), and can force-close Last Chance Auction while it's running. Admins can also edit the Last Chance close date inline while it's active without having to close and reopen the whole auction.
Golfers Breakdown Popup on Dashboard
Clicking the Golfers tile on the dashboard now opens a popup with a team-by-team breakdown showing player count and check-in status per team. Makes it easy to see at a glance which teams are fully checked in on tournament day.
Fundraising Breakdown Popup on Dashboard
Clicking the Fundraising Total tile now opens a popup with an Activity / Count / Total table broken out by revenue source (auction, donations, sales, tickets, sponsorships). Includes a Copy to Clipboard button and a Detailed Report PDF. Shows a note when the auction total includes unsold items that still have bids on them.
Guest Upload: Entree, Title, Has Ticket, Auto Bid Numbers
Four new upload capabilities: (1) An Entree column, with smart fuzzy matching so "Chicken" in the spreadsheet correctly maps to "Chicken Cordon Bleu" in the event's menu - unmatched values are reported after import instead of silently failing. (2) A Title column (Dr., Mrs., Mr.) that stores as the guest's formal title. (3) A Has Ticket column so admins can mark which uploaded rows already have tickets vs. contact-only imports. (4) If the event has auto-assign bid numbers turned on, ticketed guests get their bid numbers assigned automatically during import.
Auction Items Upload: Smarter CSV Template + Fuzzy Matching
Downloading the auction items template now generates columns based on what's configured for the event - an "Is Taxable" column only appears when the event has tax rates set up, and a "Buyers Premium Applies" column only appears when buyer's premium is enabled. Category and Auction Type imports now use fuzzy matching: slight spelling differences between the spreadsheet and existing categories will map correctly instead of creating duplicates. Unmatched values are reported after import instead of silently auto-creating junk records.
Swipe Card on Saved Payment Methods
The Saved Payment Methods page now supports adding a card via a card reader tap/swipe, matching how swipe works elsewhere in the app. Was previously only wired up for the checkout flow.
MaxGiving Software Update March 31 - April 7, 2026
Donation Display Order Setting
Admins can now control whether donation history sorts by "Most Recent First" or "Highest Amount First." This is configurable per event in the Advanced Donations settings.
PDF Statements: SUBTOTAL Line
PDF statements now show a SUBTOTAL line before taxes, fees, and buyer's premium. Previously it jumped straight from line items to the total. Also added Bid #, Table #, and Table Name to statements.
"Last Sent" Date on Send Invoices Column
The balance-due page now shows when the last invoice was sent to each guest. Helps admins avoid double-sending or know when to follow up.
Auction Types: Pickup Receipts Filter
The Auction Types modal got a redesign item Pickup Receipts popup now has an Auction Types filter so you can print receipts for just "Silent Auction" items, for example.
Countdown Timer: Last-Minute Warning
When saving an auction type with an end date less than 1 hour away and a countdown timer configured, admins now get a confirmation dialog warning that "last-minute changes may not be recognized by existing open browsers."
Uploaded Guest Display
Guests imported via CSV upload now show "Uploaded Guest" as their ticket type instead of a blank or confusing ticket ID.
MaxGiving Software Update March 24 – 31, 2026
Last Chance Auction: Admins can reopen specific auction items after the event ends for a "last chance" bidding window. A wizard walks through selecting the close time, choosing who to invite (all users, all bidders, or only bidders who didn't win), and optionally sending email/text invitations with a custom message. Items that were hidden, preview-only, or in-person-only can be included. A new section in Advanced Settings controls the feature, and the event timer updates to show "Last Chance Auction closes at..." during the extended bidding period.
Live Progress Bars for Batch Operations: Eight long-running admin operations now show a live progress bar with percentage, item count, and estimated time remaining instead of a generic spinner. Covered operations: batch PDF statement generation, email all statements, charge all cards, print all contributions, send all guest login links, financial reconciliation report, and archive site. For example, generating 20 statements now shows "Generating statement 8 of 20... ~2m 15s remaining" instead of just "Please wait."
Swipe on Admin Statement: Admins can now swipe a physical card to vault it directly from the Enter Payment popup on a guest's statement page. A new reusable SwipeCardModal component works with all supported payment gateways. After swiping, the newly vaulted card appears in the card dropdown and can be selected for the charge immediately.
Team Giving Item Sales: Team Giving events now have a full Item Sales experience. Supporters can browse items, add them to a cart, and purchase during the fundraising flow. The admin dashboard includes the Item Sales page with team-specific filtering. Raffle tickets and unlimited-quantity items are now available for My Simple Auction events too.
View/Post Payment on Paid Sponsors: A new dollar-icon button on the paid sponsors page opens the View/Post Payment popup, letting admins quickly process or review sponsor payments.
Couple Card Vaulting: When linked couples check in, each partner can now save their own credit card while sharing the same payment gateway profile. Previously, the second partner's card would overwrite the first. Now both cards are preserved and each person sees their own card on file.
🛠Improvements
Bidder Search Shows Bid Numbers and Linked Spouse: The bidder search dropdown on donation entry and sale popups now displays each person's bid number after their name (e.g., "Ben Florence (#42)") and shows any linked spouse underneath with their own bid number. Makes it much faster to find the right person at check-in.
Statement Designer Polish: The thank-you statement preview now resolves template variables (like organization name) so you see actual content instead of placeholder codes. Width and height fields accept "auto" to restore automatic sizing. Footer text overflow is fixed so long text no longer gets clipped.
Raffle Tier Stays Selected After Sale: When selling raffle tickets from the Item Sales Entry page, the selected tier, quantity, and price now stay filled in after each sale. Operators can keep selling the same tier without re-selecting it every time.
MaxGiving Software Updates — March 18-24, 2026
Move Bids to Paper- For events that transition from online bidding to a live, in-person auction, organizers can now set a specific date and time per auction category after which online bidding automatically stops. Once that cutoff passes, all items in that category display a large "IN-PERSON ONLY" banner and visitors can no longer place bids online. Admins and kiosk staff can still bid on behalf of attendees. The auto-bid option is also hidden for these items since it wouldn't work after the cutoff. When setting the date, it automatically suggests the event date as a starting point.
Donor Activity by Bid Number Report- A brand-new report that shows a complete breakdown of everything a donor did at an event - every item they purchased, every donation they made - all organized by their bid number. Available as both a downloadable Excel spreadsheet and a printable PDF. The PDF includes the donor's name, phone, email, and a nicely formatted table with column headers, lines, and automatic page breaks. Negative balances (like refunds) are displayed in accounting format with parentheses. Useful for post-event reconciliation or for handing to a donor who wants an itemized receipt.
Live Runner Worksheet- A new printable report designed for the staff running a live auction. It lists every auction item with columns for Catalog Number, Item Name, Bid Number, and Amount - so staff can jot down winning bids as the auctioneer calls them. Items that have already been sold are sorted to the top with the winner's info pre-filled. You can filter by auction type, by specific catalog numbers, or by procurement numbers, and there's a checkbox to include or exclude already-sold items. Every page has a "Recorded By" signature line at the bottom.
Include Event Date on Statements- The Statement Designer now has an "Include Event Date" checkbox on the Event Name element. When enabled, the event's date (from Ticketing Settings) is printed directly below the event name on all statements and receipts. This is hidden automatically when no event date has been set. Great for giving donors a clear record of when they attended.
QR Code and Donor Name on Table Displays- The printable table display cards for sales items now have two new optional features. "Include QR Code" places a scannable QR code in the upper-right corner of each card that links directly to the item's purchase page - attendees can scan it with their phone and buy instantly. "Include Donor Name" adds the item donor's name on the card between the value and description. Both are checkboxes in the Table Display design settings.
Configurable Countdown Timer per Auction Type- Previously, all auction categories shared a single countdown timer. Now each auction type can have its own countdown threshold (0 to 5 minutes). When an auction is within its countdown window, a floating animated timer appears for bidders. If you have multiple auction categories closing at different times, each one gets its own independent countdown. Organizers can configure this in the Edit Auction Type popup, and a new "Timer" column in the auction types table shows the current setting.
Font Size Selection for Item Labels- When printing item labels (the small stickers that go on physical auction items), you can now choose between 8pt (default) and 10pt font size. Helpful if your labels are hard to read at the smaller size or if you have shorter item names that fit fine at 10pt.
Preview Button for Table Displays- The Table Display design page now has a "Preview Display" button that generates a sample PDF showing exactly how the current template settings will look when printed. This lets organizers experiment with different layouts, column counts, and options and see the result before committing - no more printing a page just to check the formatting.
Ticket Selection at Check-In- When checking in a guest who doesn't have a ticket or reservation level assigned, the system used to just show a warning message. Now it shows a dropdown with all available reservation levels so the admin can assign one on the spot and proceed directly to check-in - no need to go to a separate page to fix the missing ticket first.
Taxable and Buyer's Premium Columns in Sales Items Download- When downloading the sales items spreadsheet, new columns now appear for "Taxable" and "Buyer's Premium" - but only when at least one item in your event has those properties set. This matches the behavior already in place for auction item downloads, keeping the spreadsheet clean when these features aren't being used.
Auction Item Table Display Design - You can now design the overall look of your table displays. (Auction Item Table Display Design)
MaxGiving Software Updates — March 11-17, 2026
Max Guest Count - Sold Out Tickets- When a ticket type reaches its guest limit, it now shows "Sold Out" to attendees instead of letting them purchase tickets that can't be fulfilled.
Auction End Countdown Timer -A floating countdown timer with color-coded animations lets bidders know exactly how much time remains before the auction closes - adds excitement and urgency in the final minutes.
Import Auction Items from Past Events - Organizers can now pull in item lists from previous events instead of re-entering everything from scratch - a huge time saver for recurring fundraisers.
Ticket Questions - Organizers can add custom questions to the ticket registration flow (e.g., "Do you have dietary restrictions?"). Answers are saved with the attendee and can be exported as a Custom Questions Report PDF.
Sales Items Table Displays - A new printable table-display layout for items for sale, with configurable orientation, columns, and filter options.
Guest Check-In Redesign - The guest check-in screen is now more compact with better styling. Guests who don't share a bid number now get dual login links. Secondary partner popup and entree selection have been refined.
Category Badges Replace Raffle Badges - Items now show customizable category badges instead of generic "Raffle" labels. Organizers can set the badge text in Advanced Settings, giving more flexibility in categorization.
Invoice Payment Notifications - Admins now receive notifications when invoice payments are made, just like they do for regular donations and purchases.
Bid Sheet Formatting - there are now sizing option and more options of information to include.
MaxGiving Software Updates — March 3–10, 2026
Auction Item Labels - New selection, grouping, and sorting options when
printing labels.
Item Sales Report - Added filters and sort-by-name.
Golf Auto-Assign - Auto-assign teams and tickets, including non-golfers.
Registered Users "Paid By" Filter - When filtering by "Paid By," the
purchaser now shows up in the list, making it easier to seat everyone at
the same table.
No-Charge Tickets - Free tickets no longer ask for a credit card.
Raffle Winner Undo - Raffle ticket winners can now be undone.
Entree Options for Guest Changes - Guests updating their info via access
code can now select entree options.
Auction Item CSV - cost now saves properly on XLSX
upload. Also, if certificate redemption instructions are included,
certificate status auto-updates to "has certificate."
Social Media Fields - LinkedIn, TikTok, and Threads added to event
settings.
Duplicate Transaction Detection - Prevents accidental double charges by
checking for same email/amount within the last hour.
(runs automatically during checkout)
Better Payment Error Messages - Instead of "Payment processing failed,"
users now see specific messages like "Insufficient funds," "Your card
appears to be expired," or "CVV was incorrect." Covers all three gateways
with 80+ error patterns.
